In the past, I have tried Carbnite. Which I found very hard on my body and didn’t enjoy. So this time around I am going to try Carb Backloading. Now as a female, I can’t pig out like males can. Which is find with me.
So this is my plan to start with.
Kiefer says not to count calories. But as I’m not sure how my body is going to respond. I will be calorie counting my main macros. I will start with lower calories and reverse diet myself into higher calories each month till I find a happy medium. I also won’t be counting fat that is eaten at night. Just protein and carbs.
I will get most of my carbs from clean foods. Rice, Potato, Kumara/sweet potato etc and finish the rest of my carbs with a treat, like ice cream, chocolate, a pastry etc.
I am also going to give myself one dirty backload a week. And this will be like my cheat meal.
I will start with 3x 20min HIIT a week. With 1-2 60min walks during the weekend. This is because I enjoy going for a walk with my partner, no special weight loss reason for this to be honest. I was also thinking about adding in plyo 2x a week between sets.
For my post workout shake. I am going to take out dextrose. And replace that sugary carb with dried fruit, like Medjool dates,
I want to have a well balance life. So will keep my weekends as low carb, as often as I can. But if we go out for dinner with friends or family. I’m not going to stress about it.
I have always believed that carbs are great, when used smartly. So I am a little disappointed in myself for getting a coach and letting her create a diet for me and giving me hours of steady cardio. I just wanted to get on stage. But by the time I got there, I kinda regretted the whole thing. 18 weeks of my life, eating a way I didn’t believe in, just to get on stage. That’s 18 weeks where I could have been tweaking my carb backloading.
But what is done, is done. I don’t want to get back on stage, but I love to lift heavy and still want to grow.
My last check in with my coach is August 6th. So I will start my backloading August 11th.
